Ed graduated from Centennial High School in Utica in 1971. He went to work for the Burlington Railroad after graduation, living in a bunk car for a short time. Living in a bunk car was not new to Ed, as he comes from a long line of railroaders and lived in a bunk car until his family planted roots in Beaver Crossing in 1960.
The first day of work for the railroad, his father R. G. Briney was told that his son didn't show for work and the new kid was doing the work of two guys. His dad inquired who the new kid was and found out it was Ed Morava. There was no such thing as step family, Ed just had extended family who loved him very much and vice versa.
Ed had many hobbies, he enjoyed gardening, asparagus hunting, his horses, working on autos, horse shoes, shooting pool, shuffle board, foosball, etc., but his favorite free time activity was spending time with his children and grandchildren. One of his favorite charities was "Christmas for Kids" in Custer, S.D.
Ed is survived by, children: Alvin of S.D., Terry of Fairbury, Amber Dawn (Jared) West of Kan., Tina (Brian) Eckenboy of Ariz. and Pam (Matt) Munoz of Wyo. Also surviving are Ed's mother, Helen Briney of Exeter; siblings and spouses, Dorie (Jim) Winchester of Beaver Crossing, Pat (Jim) Redinger of Lincoln, Robert Morava of Exeter, Bob Briney of Beaver Crossing, Deb (Randy) Banks of Beaver Crossing, Rick (Linda) Briney of S.D. and Tonita (Brian) Wilbur of Potter and many other relatives.
Ed was preceeded in death by his grandparents, both fathers: Lyle Morava and Richard Briney and a nephew Marc Banks.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post #178 in Beaver Crossing, NE. Casual dress, blue jeans, bibs, etc. are requested. It was Ed's wish to be cremated and his cremains will be taken to the Black Hills of S.D.
