Dorie was named after her Aunt Eldora. She graduated amongst the first graduating class from Centennial High School in Utica, Nebraska, in 1968. She continued her education at Nebraska Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska, where she received an Associate Degree.

Lincoln area drew Dorie where she lived and worked as an inspector for Gerber Pet Food. She filled her leisure time with crocheting, knitting, gardening, genealogy, sewing, and cooking. She created memorials, took photos of tombstones, and shared information for family and others searching for family as a volunteer contributor on FindAGrave beginning in February 2001, until her death.

She was married on February 1, 2002, in Lincoln, Nebraska. May 31, 2013, they moved to Binger, Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lyle Morava, and Helen and R.G. Briney; brother, Ed Morava; and nephew, Marc Banks.

She was survived by her husband of Binger, Oklahoma; her children and families of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Atlanta, Georgia; Salina, Kansas; and Lincoln, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; her siblings and families of Lincoln, Nebraska; Exeter, Nebraska; Beaver Crossing, Nebraska; Piedmont, South Dakota; and Potter, Nebraska, as well as many other relatives and friends.

An After Life Celebration was held at the Hope Center, Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 2:00 pm, in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, with services provided by Turner Funeral Home in Hinton, Oklahoma.
