Evelyn F. Hoover, 93, of Newville died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at her home.
She was born Dec. 5, 1917, in West Pennsboro Township, the daughter of Clifford O. and Alma Palm Fickes.
Mrs. Hoover was the widow of Robert L. Hoover, who died Aug. 13, 1982.
She had been an elementary teacher in the Big Spring School District.
She belonged to Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church of Newville, the Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the Lutheran Bells. She also belonged to the Big Spring Senior Center and John Graham Public Library. She volunteered at Green Ridge Village and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Robert L Hoover and his wife Judith of York; one daughter, Jill L. Shuman and her husband Randy of Newville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 23, at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 51 W. Main St., Newville.
Services are under the direction of Egger Funeral Home, Inc., Newville.
