Gertrude Callaway, 86, passed away on March 17, 2012 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 23, 2012 in Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Rev. Rod Payne, officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Gertrude was born June 29, 1925 to Austin and Annie (Roberts) London in Stecker, Oklahoma. She married Marvin Callaway on June 3, 1965 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Gertrude was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She always made family her priority. Gertrude was a longtime and very active member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Glory Choir and the Hannah Sunday School Class. Gertrude loved to travel, doing ceramics, and raising flowers and working in her garden.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin on December 13, 2011; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her four children: Barbara Glennis Cooke of Edmond, Oklahoma, Gary Dennis Bennett and wife Marie of Austin, Texas, Robbie Marie Monaghan and husband Kevin of Wichita Falls, Texas and Mike Bennett and wife Sandra of Houston, Texas; a sister Jean Rich of Mesquite, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-7 PM, for visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
