MANDERSON - Darwin Apple, 61, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Rapid City.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his son, Lee Black Bear, Michigan; daughters, Lorilei Black Bear and Angela Black Bear, both of Manderson; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brothers, Garfield Apple, Tyrone Apple and Ravon Apple, all of Manderson; sisters, Valaria Apple, Manderson, Zandra Apple, Seattle, Wash., Audrey Apple, Rapid City, and Susan Apple, Red Shirt Table; and significant other, Babette Thin Elk, Manderson.
Two-night wake services began at 2 p.m. March 14, at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, March 16, at the school, with Hope Villella officiating. Traditional Lakota services by George Apple, Virgil Yellow Cloud and Duane Yellow Cloud. Burial will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church Cemetery in Manderson.
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
