Agnes Sweat was born in Perry County, Ohio, November 13, 1830, and while yet in her teens was married to William Figgins, who parted this life fourteen years ago. To them three children were born, only one of whom survives, Adam Figgins, of Morton’s Mills, at whose home the mother died Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Figgins came to Iowa in 1865, locating in Douglas Township, where she lived until the time of her demise. She became a Christian in 1859, and lived a consistent Christian life, being highly respected and loved by all for her works sake, for “Aunt Aggie”, as she was familiarly called, was always ready to perform any service that would make life happier for others. She was a tireless church worker, a faithful companion, a noble mother and a sympathetic friend and neighbor. The funeral was held fro the Memorial Christian Church Monday at 11 o’clcok, Ref. J. O. Lemon of Grant officiating, the interment being in the Memorial Cemetery. A large number of neighbors assembled to pay their last sad rites to one whom all loved, and one who died without an enemy.
