Lieut. Nathaniel Thomas was born in Middleton MA August 4, 1747. He married July 30, 1767, Esther Perkins the daughter of John Perkins Jr. of Topsfield, MA. Nathaniel and Esther moved to Rindge, NH and settled on the farm owned and occupied by generations of their descendants in 1771. He was a town selectman in 1788. He was a Revolutionary soldier, he served in Capt. Hale's Lexington Co., he was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge in 1776, he was in Capt. Francis Towne's Co., Capt. Daniel Rand's Co. and Capt. Cunningham's Co. In 1783 he was a Lieut. in the militia. His wife died Sept. 11, 1805 and he married 2nd December 31, 1806, Phebe (Towne) Peirce, widow of Abraham Peirce and daughter of Deacon Francis Towne. He died April 10, 1818. His widow died January 16, 1824. He had six children.
