Capt. Salmon Stone was born April 17, 1744 the son of Deacon James and Mary (Farwell) Stone in Groton, MA. Salmon married November 11, 1767 Susannah Page daughter of Lieut. Joseph Page of Rindge, NH. He settled in Rindge on the Lord Farm. Capt. Stone was a soldier in the Revolution, he was in Capt. Nathan Hales Co. after the alarm at Lexington in 1775, he was a signatory of the "Association Test" in Rindge in 1776, and was in Stark's Brigade in 1777. Capt. Stone led a company that included 24 Rindge men at the Battle of Bennington. He was a town selectman in 1777 and was frequently chosen to other positions of trust. Salmon and Susannah had fourteen children.
