Catlettsburg - Mrs. Ethel Short Bowling, 74, of Route 2, Ashland, widow of John E. Bowling, died Sunday at her home in the Terrapin Ridge section. Her husband died last July 24th.

The body was removed from the Kilgore-Collier Funeral Home at 4 p.m. today to the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Bowling Cemetery on the Terrapin Ridge Road, with the Rev. Edison Conley and the Rev. Everett Slone officiating.

Mrs. Bowling was born in Lawrence County, Ky., March 29, 1884, a daughter of the late Jack and Ester Moore Short.

Surviving her are two sons; Shade Bowling, Rt. 2, Ashland, and Jack Bowling, of Westwood; a daughter, Mrs. Henry Bishop, Blaine, Ky.; two brothers, Milt Short, Adams, Ky., and Alva Short, Columbus, Ohio; and 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bowling had been a resident of Boyd County for ten years and was a member of the Hood Fork United Baptist Church in Lawrence County. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Jeddie, Jesse, Paul, Holly and Larnie Bowling, George Moore, Woodrow Arrington, Calvin McDowell and Byron Kazee.
