Laura was born Wednesday, June 30, 1915 in Moroni, the daughter of Jacob Lehi Curtis and Jensena Simonsen. She was educated in Moroni. She married Jessie Bardine Petersen on June 1, 1932 in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1964.
Jesse and Laura's first home was in Mount Pleasant. In 1940, they moved to Orem. In 1945, Jesse and Laura moved to Provo, where they resided for the rest of their lives. She worked as a cook at several different restaurants in Orem.
Laura was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, belonging to the Provo Third Ward, and served as a Visiting Teacher. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Provo Senior Citizens. Laura worked in meal preparation with the St. Francis Senior Center Meals.
Laura passed away on Monday, October 26, 1981 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. She resided in Provo at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 30, 1981 at 2:00 p.m. in the Provo Third Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 376 North 700 West in Provo. A viewing was held on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Berg Mortuary located at 185 East Center Street in Provo, and at the church one hour prior to the services. Laura was laid to rest following the conclusion of the funeral services at the Timpanogas Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Orem.
