The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on May 26, 2003 had the following: "Two very different kinds of Memorial Day were observed Sunday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In one newer section at the cemetery, the men of the family gently lifted an elderly woman from her wheelchair, making a living chair with their arms. 'You OK, grandma?' one of them asked. Together they helped Marion Rath, 83, of Milwaukee to two adjoining graves. Her husband, Edward A. Rath, had served in World War II. He died in 1985, and she had kept his ashes. A son, William A. Rath, had served in Vietnam, and died in 2001. 'They were just buried here last year,' said Edward Rath Jr., now of Champaign, Ill. 'It may be the beginning of a tradition,' said his wife, Lois Rath, of the gathering."
