DEATH CLAIMS CARL W. ALBERT
Former Local Resident Is Stricken at Veterans Hospital.
Carl W. Albert, 51, 114 North Sheridan street, South Bend, died at 7 o'clock Sunday night at the Veterans Hospital in Hines, Ill. He had been in failing health for some time, but had become more seriously ill a few days before he was taken to the hospital. He had been in the hospital about six week.

He was born in Columbus and lived his early life here. He had moved with his family to South Bend a few months ago. Prior to his service in the first world war, he had been employed at Mooney tannery. Before moving to South Bend he had been employed at South Side tavern.

His parents were John and Etta Albert of Columbus. He served in both world wars, and was overseas for part of his service in the first world war.

Surving are his widow, Mrs. Edith Ping Albert; three sons, Darwin and Kenneth Albert, both of Columbus and Meredith Albert of Madison; two step-sons, George Pierpont, South Bend, and Deryl Pierpont serving in the Marines; three step-daughters, Mrs. Hazel Hurley, Mrs. Pauline Lewandowski and Mrs. Doris Thompson, all of South Bend; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral rites will be Wednesday afternoon at the Hickey Funeral home, Western and Williams streets, South Bend. Burial will be there. Military funeral rites will be conducted.
