Betty J. Hepler, 89, of Rivercliff Terrace, Kittanning, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the Armstrong County Health Center. Betty was born June 24, 1922, to Charles A. and Margaret (Yingst) Hepler. She was the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1940 and in her youth worked at the Company Store in Yellow Dog. She later worked for the Veterans Administration and retired from West Penn Power Co. after 36 years of service as a secretary and clerk. Betty was a member of the Kittanning community most of her adult life. She was a very loving and kind person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning and over the years was active in the church, a member of the Faith Circle and helped in sending out the church newsletter. She loved reading, especially her Bible and doing word search puzzles. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys Stewart, Hazel Stouffer, Dorothy George, Martha Bowser, Phyllis George and Ruth Claypoole; and two brothers, David Hepler and Homer Hepler. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Kittanning with the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Lutheran Church. There will be viewing one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at the Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning. www.snydercrissman.com.
