Funeral services for John R. Spurlock, 68, were held at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Nebo Church near Downsville.

Mr. Spurlock of 1401 N. 6th Street in West Monroe, died in Glenwood Hospital Tuesday night after a short illness. The Rev. Joe Cannon officiated at the services, and burial was in the church, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Monroe.

Mr. Spurlock was retired from the United States Army and was a veteran of World War I and II.

Survivors are his widow Mrs. Alice Spurlock of West Monroe; two stepsons, W. T. Tatum and Henry Tatum, both of West Monroe; four step-daughters, Mrs. Margaret Terrell of Downsville, Mrs. Mamie Allen of West Monroe, and Mrs. Lois Horne and Mrs. Florence Skains, both of Bossier City; eight brothers, George Spurlock of Ruston, T. H. Spurlock of West Monroe, Howard Spurlock of Dry Creek, Gordon G. Spurlock of Monroe, Sam Spurlock of Bossier City and Horace Spurlock of Pineville; and one sister, Mrs. Jerolene Kitchens of Albuquerque, N.M."
