Funeral services for Geraldine Fay Sansoucy, age 79, a resident of St. Joseph's Home in Ogdensburg, New York for the past three years and formerly of Caroline Street and Morristown Road, will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Mary's Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Sansoucy was surrounded by her family when she passed away at the Claxton Hepburn Hospital. She had been a patient since Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Mrs. Sansoucy is survived by her husband, John C. Sansoucy; four daughters, Julie Hannan and her husband Dr. William Hannan of Syracuse, Michele Guardino and her husband Gus of Heuvelton, Sheila Peo and her husband Mike of Ogdensburg and Kathryn St. Pierre' and her husband Danny Maurice of Ogdensburg; one son, Thomas Sansoucy and his wife Mary Ellen of Ogdensburg; seventeen grandchildren, Maureen Tufte, Mary Kate, Michael and Meghan Hannan, Michael and Matthew Guardino, Aaron, Nathan, Margaret and Elizabeth Peo, Jacob, Madelyn and Olivia St. Pierre', Ashley and Tyler Sansoucy and Evan and Marcie Turnbull; and a brother, Robert Fay of Massena.

She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Fay.

Geraldine was born on May 2, 1932, the daughter of Thomas J. Fay and Ruth Barber of Massena. She graduated from Massena Central School in 1951 and A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in 1954. She married John C. Sansoucy of Ogdensburg on April 14, 1956 at the Sacred Heart Church in Massena. They began their life together in Winooski Park, Vermont. John was attending St. Michael's College and Gerry was employed at Fanny Allen Hospital as a Registered Nurse for three years. The couple later moved back to Ogdensburg and resided on Caroline Street, Ogdensburg until purchasing property on the St. Lawrence River where they built their current home.

Geraldine worked for A. Barton Hepburn Hospital; St. Joseph's Home and the Ogdensburg Medical Group and aided John in establishing his business called Ameriprise Financial until retiring on the St. Lawrence. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Cathedral and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.

She enjoyed working on community gardens with her friends in the Ogdensburg Garden Club. After retiring on the river property she and John enjoyed building new gardens on the river. Her hobbies include quilting and refinishing antique furniture.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Home Foundation, St. Mary's Cathedral and the St. Lawrence Valley Chapter of Hospice.
