When Bettye Louise Armstrong was born on June 3, 1932, in Amarillo, Texas, her father, Embree H Armstrong, was 27, and her mother, Bonnie B Watson, was 25.

She moved to Lubbock with her parents, Embree and Bonnie Armstrong in 1933. She attended Dupree Elementary, Lubbock High School and Texas Tech.

She married George W. Carpenter July 17th, 1951, in Lubbock.

Bettye served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Lubbock. She was a charter member of Christian Women's Club and Community Bible Study. She was a member of First Baptist Church and served with the University Ministry for 25 years. She was also a member of the Downtown Bible Class. Bettye was preceded in death by her parents Embree and Bonnie Armstrong and a son Craig Embree Carpenter.

She went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2005.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George, along with two children, Karyn Green and her husband David of Sweetwater and Chris Carpenter and his wife Beth of Lubbock; five grandchildren and two great-grand children: Luke Green and his wife Shelby and their children Orrin and Caleb of Lubbock; Daniel Green of Fort Worth; and Kailey, Ryan and Kendal Carpenter of Lubbock; her sister, Anne Lowery and husband Dick of Stillwater, Okla.; nephews, Tim Lowery of Ft. Worth and Andrew Lowery of Stillwater, Okla.; niece Felicia Lowery of Tucson, Ariz.; and her beloved friends who cared for her, Becky Gonzales, Juanita Badillo and Merlene London.

She is also survived by her international children, Moh and Mary Soheili and children Hamid and Saed; and Shang and Jenny Chou and children Timothy and Jonathan, all of Plano.
