Harl Vaughn Cox,91, died Saturday, March 25, at his home.
Graveside services will be held 2pm today, Wednesday, March 29 at the IOOF Cemetery.
He was born October 13, 1897 at Lamont, Oklahoma to John Gurney and Emma Jane (Franks) Cox.
When he was 10 years old ,his family homesteaded in the western panhandle of Oklahoma, near Carlington.

He married Roberta Hart on March 11, 1917 at Boise City, Oklahoma,and there they established their home .They raised broom corn, grain sorghums and wheat.
In the 1930's, the Oklahoma panhandle was the center of the dust bowl and without a crop for seven years, they lost the farm.
In 1940 they moved to Oregon and settled in Lebanon where Harl worked for lumber mills, retiring from Bauman Lumber Company.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Roberta; four sons, Howard Denton of Portland, Clifford Vaughn of Hillsboro, Donald D of Mercer Island, WA and Joseph Esten of Stanton, New Jersey; two daughters, Alene Marie Trott of Grants Pass, and Martha Louise Moody of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; one brother, Mervyn Cox of Greenburg, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
