Doris Fagot Rabenhorst, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, in the Butterfly Wing of the Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was born on April 15, 1920 ,in Stephenson, Miss., to George Godfrey and Julia Laura Hutto Fagot. Her family moved to Rome, Ga., where she attended Rome High School and Shorter College. While attending Rome High School, she was a star basketball player and a cheerleader. She moved to Baton Rouge in 1940 and worked at Standard Oil until her marriage in 1945 to Alvin Phillips Rabenhorst. She is survived by her children, Alvin P. Rabenhorst Jr., Karen Rabenhorst Kerr and husband Tony, David L. Rabenhorst and wife Anne, and G. Scott Rabenhorst and wife Melanie. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jonathan Kerr and wife Kerri, of Alexandria, Va., Patrick Kerr and wife Ashley, of Greenville, S.C., Dr. Brien Rabenhorst and wife Aimee, of Lubbock, Texas, John Rabenhorst and Erin Rabenhorst, both of Dallas, Blaire Rabenhorst, of New York City, and Kyle Rabenhorst, of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Owen Kerr. She is also survived by a niece, Betty Derrick Irwin, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a nephew, Mike Derrick, of Alpharetta, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alvin Phillips Rabenhorst; her parents, George and Julia Hutto Fagot; and her sister, Camille Fagot Derrick. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the Woman's Club, the Junior League and Baton Rouge Country Club. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Government Street, on Thursday, March 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Pope Hall, on Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m., with religious services in the church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will always cherish the attentive devotion, companionship and wonderful care so lovingly given to her by her caregivers, Augustine and Cindy Anderson. Her gentleness, her kindness, and her strong sense of propriety, in the tradition of the southern lady, will be greatly missed by her family.
