Enlisted, 1905, in Troop 3, Squadron A, NYNG, New York City. In 1912 Troop 3 was designated Troop F, 1st Cavalry, NYNG.

December 31, 1906 - January 2, 1907 the Squadron was the escort to Governor Charles Hugh at his inaugural ceremonies, Albany, NY.
November 14, 1908, the Squadron paraded at the unveiling of the monument to the Prison Ship Martyrs, Brooklyn, NY.
December 6, 1911, the Squadron was reviewed by Secretary of War, Henry L. Stimson.

He was discharged from Squadron A in 1913.

World War 1, he enlisted in the American Field Service, serving in section 3, from December 1915 - September 1916. He saw combat along the Alsace and Verdun fronts.

He returned to the States, he attended O.T.C. at Plattsburg Barracks, NY, and was commissioned Captain, Infantry, August 15, 1917, He was assigned as the commander of Company M, 307th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division. The 307th Infantry sailed for France in April of 1918. He was wounded in action , August 24, 1918 ( bullet wound in the face ), and again on, October 4, 1918 ( bullet wound in the shoulder, rifle-grenade through both legs and face ). He returned to the States in April of 1919 and discharged May 13, 1919.

He died accidentally on vacation.
