I interviewed Minnie Rose (Alcorn) Hale on 9/28/1980 in San Jose, CA. She was living in a small apartment in the back of a friends house, was slowly going blind, and told me she was preparing to move into an Odd Fellows Home. She was very lucid & told me she had been very active in Eastern Star, Odd Fellows & other organizations. She had been State Secretary of Odd Fellows for many years. She told me both of her children had died in an epidemic at a very early age & no other children had been born to their union. I found in later research that her son had indeed died at an early age, but that her daughter had been 20 years old when she died in Escalon of possible suicide. Perhaps it was too much for Minnie to handle.
