He was born in rural Poplar Bluff, MO to Walter and Emily Sample. He was the youngest of their six children.
Delbert was The Father Of Glenna, Glenn (Who Passed Away October 17,2006) Brenda, Kathy, Sharon and Gary.

As a young boy Delbert fell from a very large tree in the school yard. His arm was severely damaged and became badly infected, the doctor wanted to amputate it. His Mother refused. His father took him to see the doctor in town daily by way of a horse drawn wagon to insure they were doing all that could be done to save that arm. They nursed that arm back to relatively good health. He worked as a farm laborer and at a CC camp clearing lumber as a young man. He also worked in landscape, tool and dye, bartender and janitor.
He Is Very Much Loved And Missed.

Siblings:
John Thomas Sample (1900 - 1942)*
Florence F Sample Anderson (1903 - 2006)*
Ross R Sample (1905 - 1967)*
Myrtle Bertha Sample Brown (1908 - 1996)*
Theodore Fred Sample (1913 - 1964)*

Thank You So Very Much Michael For Adding The Picture Of Delbert's Stone.
You Are A True Earth Angel.

When I Come To The End Of The Road And The Sun Has Set For Me, I Want No Rites In A Gloom-Filled Room, Why Cry For A Soul Set Free. Miss Me A Little-But Not Too Long. And Not With Your Head Bowed Low. Remember The Love That We Once Shared, Miss Me-But Let Me Go. For This Journey That We All Must Take, And Each Must Go Alone. It's All A Part Of The Master's Plan A Step On The Road Home. When You Are Lonely And Sick Of Heart, Go To The Friends We Know. And Bury Your Sorrows In Doing Good Deeds. Miss Me-But Let Me Go.
