Jeanette Van Maanen

Jeanette Van Maanen, 83, of Rock Valley died Monday, July 31, at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.
Services were at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley on Thursday, the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Born on April 26, 1912, in Sioux County, to Raymond and Minnie (Vedders) Kempema.
She married John D. Van Maanen on February 23, 1938, in Rock Valley, The couple farmed near Rock Valley until 1981, when they retired to Rock Valley. He died on April 3, 1994 and she moved to Valley Manor on July 6, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Glen Tilstra of Inwood and Joanne and Dick Dirksen of Rock Valley; two brothers, Herman and John Kempema, both of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Jennie) Kooistra of Inwood and Mrs. Pete (Freda) Groeneweg of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marlys; two infant grandchildren; four brothers, Ernest, Charles, Henry and Clarence and a sister, Mrs. Daniel Kooistra.
