Freda Groeneweg
Freda Groeneweg, 90, of Edgerton, MN, formerly of Rock Valley and Hull, Iowa, died Thursday, November 20, 1997, at Edgebrook Care Center at Edgerton. Service were Monday at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, with the Rev. John Engbers officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Groeneweg was bom February 4, 1907, in Rock Valley, the daughter of Raymond and Minnie(Fedders) Kempema.
She married Pete Groeneweg on OCL 9, 1930, at Rock Valley. The couple fanned near Rock Valley before moving to Hull, Iowa, where she worked for Otis Radio Manufacturing of Hawarden, Iowa He died Feb. 4,1970.
She remained in Hull where she worked as a dental assistant and did volunteer work for the Hope Haven Foster Grandparent Program. She was a m ember of Hull First Christian Reformed Church, Friendship Class Program and its Societies.
She moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1990, to be with her daughter.
She moved to Edgebrook Care Center in September of 1997.
Survivors include four daughters
and their husbands, Betty and Edwin Obbink of Edgerton, Mildred and Con Schaap of Colorado Springs, Janice and Earl Obbink of Littleton, Colo., and Sheryl and Clayton Jongetjes of Escondido, CA; two brothers, John Kempema, and Herman and his wife, Henrietta Kempema, all of Rock Valley; a sister and her husband, Jennie and Martin Kooistra of Inwood, Iowa: 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
