He was born on March 9, 1922 in Westport, son of John Wilson and Margaret Gertrude (Tumilty) Maddux. He resided in Indianapolis from 1944 until 1980. He had owned and operated Don's Body Shop in Indianapolis for 25 years. He was a member of the Murat Shrine at Indianapolis and Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. He had graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1941. He had served with the U.S. Coast Guard during WW 2. He married Mary R. Gemberling on Oct. 28, 1944 in Indianapolis, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2005.
Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Sue Maddux of Hudson, Florida; son, Edward James (Sue) Maddux of Rockville; sister, Ann (George) Dodd of Texas; brother, Bill (Charlotte) Maddux of Westport; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Stephen Paul Maddux, sisters, Jeanette Moffitt and Audene Billieu; brother, Kenneth Maddux; and a grandson, Stephen Paul Maddux, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating. Burial at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Hospice of Decatur County.
