Leona Jeanette Maddux Moffett died at Columbus (Indiana) Regional Hospital after 87 years of giving, living, and loving. The world's best wife and mom left all those on earth who loved her on Saturday, March 25, 2006, to join her Lord in Heaven.
Jeanette was born on June 18, 1918 to John and Gertrude Maddux, in Decatur Co., Indiana and resided with her family in Greensburg Indiana. She married Dale Moffett on November 19, 1934 and he preceded her in death on November 10, 1976. She is remembered for her gentle spirit, her wit and graciousness, her multitude of hours spent lovingly crocheting Afghans for family members, which will continue as a reminder to us of the comfort and security she provided to all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. She provided a beautiful example of a strong Christian faith. The Christian life she lived was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her children Dan (Helen) Moffett, Dave (Patsy) Moffett, Ronald (Rachael) Moffett, and Randy (Karen) Moffett and Rosemary (John) Moffett, two brothers Don and Bill Maddux, and two sisters Ann Dodd and Audine Billieu. Jeanette loved, cherished, supported, and served as an amazing role model for her five sons, 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale; 1 son John Moffett; 1 granddaughter, Lynn Moffett; 1 brother Kenneth Maddux.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Wilma Jensen officiating.
Interment will be held in the Union Baptist Cemetery in Decatur County.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Church or the Habitat for Humanity.
