Lucinda, daughter of James and Mariah Locke, was born in Orange Co. IN, December 19, 1842 and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs Janey Neifert, in Bussey, IA April 16, 1931, at the age of 88 years 3 months and 27 days.
The deceased came from Indiana to Iowa with her parents when a small girl, settling in Marion county, where she spent the rest of her life.
She was united in marriage to William Gullion January 12, 1862. Her husband preceding her in death on August 28, 1907. To this union nine children, 7 daughters and 2 sons were born. the sons and 2 daughters preceding her in death.
She surrendered her life to christ and united with the Attica M.P. church May 4, 1873 where she held her membership for 57 years. Her life was a normal christian life, always living up to her high ideals and ever growing to a better understanding of her masters will, until the end when she changed worlds with a shout of triumph.
She leaves to mourn her passing her 5 daughters; Mrs. Janey Neifert of Bussey, Mrs. Minnie Ross of Cobden, IL.,Mrs. Rachel Davis of Attica, Miss Hattie Gullion of Des Moines and Mrs. Stella Mick of Oskaloosa, and one sister Mrs. John Eshom of Marysville, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends.
A short service was held in the home Saturday, April 18, at 1 o'clock after which the body was taken to the Attica M.P. Church, with services held at 2 o'clock. Burial in Gullion cemetery.
