French Monarch. Born the sixth child of Philippe IV and Jeanne I de Navarre. He succeeded his brother Philippe V in 1321 as King of France and Navarra. Although he was married thrice he left no male heir and was therefore the last Capet on the thrones of France or Navarra. He was succeeded by his cousin Philippe VI from the House of Valois. His body was buried in Saint-Denis and his entails in Maubuisson.
