CENTRAL KENTUCKY NEWS JOURNAL OBITUARY – 06/23/1955
William L. Cox, 77, died Sunday, June 19 [1955] at 3:15 p.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Hershel Dennison in Louisville. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, at 1 p.m. from the Feathersburg Church of God with Bro. Kendall and Rev. Ivo Cantrell of Louisville in charge of the services. Burial was in the Callahan Cemetery. Cox, son of the late George Cox and Thomas Ann Mings Cox, was born October 9, 1877 in Taylor Co., KY. He professed faith in Christ several weeks ago. He united in marriage to Cordilie Baldwin, who preceded him in death on October 14, 1940. To this union 3 sons and 3 daughters were born. Surviving are Walter, Lattie & Peter Cox, Mrs. Hershel Dennison, Mrs. Odell Brown and Mrs. Monroe Bartley, all of Louisville. Besides his children, he is survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Martha Powell and Mrs. May Ett Gaddis, both of Louisville, Mrs. Fannie Cox, Rt. 1, Elkhorn, and Omer Cox of Campbellsville, also 41 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Haskell, Hershell, Leslie, Earl, Kenneth and William Cox.
