Mr. Charles Francis "Hank" Eppley, 82, formerly of 544 E. Church St., Frederick, died Tuesday, July 11, at College View Center, Frederick. He was the husband of Ethel Louise Tucker Crebbs Eppley, who died Dec. 9, 1995. Born Oct. 10, 1917, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Charles Herbert Eppley and Bessie Jane Marshall Eppley Wilcox, and the stepson of the late John Elmer Wilcox Sr. He worked for Bond C.C. Camp in Allegheny County during World War II. He also worked for a number of years with G.L. Baking Co. He retired in January 1980 after 27 years at the Potomac Edison Co., where he worked in a number of different positions.
At the time of his retirement he was a switchboard operator.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary A. Rippeon and husband Thomas L., and Betty J. Kasa, all of Frederick; one half-brother, John E. Wilcox Jr. and wife Christina of Frederick; two half-sisters, Shirley R.E. Mullican of Frederick, and Helen M. Fellows and husband Earl W. of West Virginia; two stepdaughters, Nellie L. Raber of Frederick, and Eva M. Price and husband William of Pennsylvania; 14 stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall M. Eppley and John B. Eppley; one half-brother, Charles A. Wilcox; three half-sisters, Margret E. Wilcox, Sarah M. Wilcox and Lurabell L. Rothenhoefer; and one stepson, David B. Crebbs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Yellow Springs. Published Online in The Frederick News-Post on July 12, 2000.
