When William Hanley was born in 1824 in Maguires Bridge, Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, his father, Hugh, was 29 and his mother, Margaret, was 27. He immigrated to the Huron District of Ontario Canada as a young man and worked as a Teamster. William married Margaret Johnston on February 10, 1847, in Goderich, Ontario, Canada. They had four children in 13 years. He died before 1861 in Goderich Township, Huron, Ontario, Canada at the age of about 37. His wife Margaret married about 1863.
