GUTTENBERG, Iowa -- Irene Viola Yohe Freese, of Guttenberg, completed her baptismal journey Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Peace, Clayton, with the Rev. Hillary Burns-Kite officiating. Inurnment will be in the Clayton Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Peace, Clayton. Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 001 S. Industrial Park Road, Garnavillo, is in charge of arrangements.

Irene was born on June 11, 1915, at Gordons Ferry, daughter of George and Elsie (Luther) Yohe. She was baptized into the Christian faith on July 18, 1915. She remained faithful to the Lutheran Church and its teachings, "Saved by Faith." She received her education in the Clayton School.

She married Henry Freese on Sept. 14, 1933. To this union four children were born. He preceded her in death.

Irene enjoyed farming with her husband, teaching Sunday School, caring for grandchildren, keeping in touch with nieces and nephews, baby sitting for friends and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving are two daughters, Paula (Serge) Sisler and Joann Tackman; a daughter-in-law, Susan Freese; grandchildren, Serge (Gail) Sisler II, Sharm (ReDawn) Sisler, Staci (fiance, Ford Thompson) Sisler, Cathryn (Bradley) Wright, Crista (Monte) Byrom, Jonathan Entner and Pamela (Al Quandahl) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Kaeden and Conner Sisler, Nicole (Reggie) Schulte, Lindsey (Paul) Deason, Loren Mitchell, Joshua and Gabriel Wright, Megan and Samuel Byrom; great-great-grandchildren, Reid, Claire and Jakob Schulte; a brother, Don (Mary) Yohe; plus many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Richard and Roger; a son-in-law, Ervin Tackman; three sisters; and three brothers.
