Phyllis Schute Rites At St. Mary's March 16
Services for Mrs. Phyllis L. Schute, 76, of McGregor, formerly of Monona, were scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. The services were to be conducted by Father Paul Peters with Father Donald Moran of Monona co-celebrating the Mass.
Mrs. Schute died Sunday, March 13, 1988 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Visitation was at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, with the rosary said by the Catholic Daughters of America Tuesday afternoon and the scripture wake service were held that evening.
Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Guttenberg, with the following pallbearers: grandsons David Schute, Brian Maertens and Tom Marshall, grandson-in-law Tim Pfile and friends Jeff Smith, Arlyn Schroeder and David Kammerer. Honorary bearers were grandsons Travis, Joel and Ryan Schute and Timothy Pfile.
Mrs. Schute was a daughter of George and Elsie (Luther) Yohe and was born May 24, 1911 in LaCrescent, Minn. She was married at St. Mary's in Guttenberg Oct. 22, 1929 to Arnold H. Schute, who died Jan. 20, 1982. Mrs. Schute was a Stanley Home Products dealer for 26 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Maeterns and Mrs. Louis (Mary Louise) Marshall, both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Geneva Kay Schute of Dubuque; five sons, Arthur of East Dubuque, Ill., Loren of Clarksville, Tenn., Ronald of West Union, Dallas of Minneapolis and Arnold D. of Westby, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Freese and Mrs. Kenneth (Kay) Clefisch, both of Garnavillo; and three brothers, Morrell of Waterville, Eugene of Waukon and Donald of Colfax.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jerome, in infancy.
