Mark Crawley married Catherine Shea on February 1, 1845 in Fayette County, Indiana. After living in Ohio, Lexington, KY, and Scott County, Indiana, Mark and Catherine moved to Crawford County, Missouri. Leaving 6 orphaned children, Mark died on September 29, 1862 and Catherine died on May 15, 1863. In some documents, it was reported that they were killed when Morgan's Raiders moved through southern Indiana (not true as no one died and they were not living in Indiana). But, after they were orphaned, the children were scattered. Some stayed in Missouri (James, Timothy), and the rest moved back to Indiana (John, Mary "Mollie, Catherine "Kate", Mark J. and Honora "Nora"). Patrick Shea, Catherine's brother, took in John and Nora Crawley and they lived in Scott County, Indiana. Catherine and Mark were "adopted" by Joseph and Catherine (Steinbacher/Steinberger) Paris in North Madison, Indiana.
