John Hollowell, son of Thomas Hollowell and Mary Peele.
married to Miriam Overman. They moved from Wayne Co., North Carolina, Transfered from the Contentnea mm, about the year 1806. John lived in a Cave while building his homestead. John was the first settler in Orange Co., Indiana. John and his sons helped to lay out the town of Valeene and donated land for the School and deeded land for the Church. They were of the Quaker faith. All three generation were Elders of the Church of Christ in Valeene. He is my 4th Great-Grandfather.

CHURCH OF CHRIST AT Bluff Spring, Orange County at their Sept. meeting 1856 in Consideration of the deaths of the former Trustees for said church and meeting house and land belonging to the same, do now appoint — William Holaday, Samuel Harned, John S. Walton, and James McDonald as Trustees for said church, to fill the vacancy of John Hollowell, Sr., John Hollowell, Jr., Christian Bingaman, Henry Hollowell (all) deceased.
