Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home for Bertha Lee Bates Vann of Fayetteville, who died Friday (March 23, 1990) in Huntsville Hospital following a long illness. She was 61.


Bob Leonard officiated. Burial followed in Stewart Cemetery.


A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William Curtis and Dora Eunice Spray Bates and a member of the North Side Church of Christ.


She is survived by her husband, Jordan Vann of Fayetteville; a son, Jack Vann of Fayetteville; five sisters: Loreana Pierce; Shirley Curlee; Conda Evans; and Peggy Bartlett, all of Fayetteville; and Dorothy Bennett of Flintville; two brothers, Paul Bates of Fayetteville and William Bates of Shreveport, Louisiana.; three step-daughters: Trudy Owens, Joyce Milner and Judy McClain, all of Huntsville; three stepsons, James Marcus Vann, Jordan Vann Jr., and Jerry Wilson Vann, all of Huntsville; 12 step-grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
