Robert S. Langston was the son of Henry M. and Martha Jane Bridges (both buried at Citizen). **See his father's gravesite for his siblings.
Robert worked in a grocery store as a youngster and as a soda jerk in the corner drugstore; he later became a pharmacist and then became the first and only wholesale gasoline distrubutor Fort Gibson, OK, ever had. He worked 39 years with Cities Service Oil Co., retiring at the age of 81.
Robert married on 18 June 1921, Pearl Christine Mayes who was a teacher in the Fort Gibson Schools; they had the following childen: Robert (Bobby) M., David M., Sammy Ruth who died at the age of 2, and Mary Lavonne who married Bob Peebles (buried at this cem.) and presently lives in the "Langston House" in Fort Gibson.
Robert was active in civic affairs and served as town treasurer at 2 different times, was on the city council for a number of years, and served as Mayor 2 different terms. He was honored for 50 years of service and dedication to the community on 22 Apr 1976, at the Founder's Day Celebration of Fort Gibson's 150th year.
