Obituary - Mr. Bertrand (Bert) Hemsworth, age 88 years, passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital - McKellar Site on Tuesday, February 26, 2002 following a short illness.Bert was born in Port Alberni, BC on November 20, 1913. He moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his family in 1915 and resided there until February 1942. Then he came to Fort William and worked at Canada Car until 1945.He was employed at Great Lakes Paper in 1945 and retired in 1976.He was always interested in sports, skiing, track and field, golf and he especially enjoyed fishing.Surviving is his wife Marjory of 59 years, 5 sons, Peter (Sylvia), Bruce (Rosalie), Donald (Deborah), George (Denise), Robert (Susan): daughter Joan (Marcel) Hebert; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.Bert is also survived by a brother Gerald (Marjorie) of Winnipeg, MB and a brother-in-law Fred Sparkes, Vancouver, BC, also nephews, nieces and other relatives.He was predeceased by his parents Lillian and Thomas, a brother George, a sister Eileen Sparkes and infant daughter Patricia Margaret (1944). A memorial funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 W. Gore Street at James with Rev. Carl Triskle, of First Church United officiating. A private family interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation orto the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A donation has been made to Northern Cancer Research Foundation in honour of Mr. Bertrand Hemsworth by Everest of Thunder Bay.
