METROPOLIS — Mr. Ronald J. Brust, 70, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at his residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012, at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Siere officiating.

Ronald served on the Ft. Massac Water District Board. He was retired from Electric Energy Inc. after 22 years of service.

He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge 498 out of Murphysboro, Ill., an avid hunter, and a member of the Massac Gun Club.

Ronald is survived by his wife of over 17 years, Becky Brust; one son, Mark Brust and wife Nancy of Evansville, Ind.; granddaughter, Sydney Brust of Evansville; stepson, Leslie Hall and wife Morgan of Paducah; stepdaughter, Lorri Whitney and husband Travis of Blain, Minn.; stepgrandchildren, Declan and Reese Whitney, both of Blain, and Mason Hall; one brother, Ray Brust and wife Thelma; and one sister, Wanda Throgmorton, all of Paducah.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Augusta (Dominic) Brust; brothers, Lawrence Brust and Wilmer "Wimpy" Brust.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening February 26, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.

Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4503 West DeYoung, Ste 200C, Marion, IL 62959.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Western Baptist Hospital Oncology Department, especially Marsha and Brenda in the Chemo Room.
