Supt./Elder Ras King, Jr. was born in Oconee, GA, on February 20, 1929. He dedicated himself to the gospel of Christ for over sixty-eight years, pastoring three churches, Reeds and Ruth Memorial COGIC, Macon, GA, and Gordon COGIC, Gordon, GA. He served as Tennille District Superintendent for twenty-one years. In addition, he served in the U.S. Army. He also was a skilled plumber and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife Gwinnett King; children, Patricia Veal, Gwendolyn Jones, Pamela Smith, Tameika Rutherford, Tanya Rushing, Marquelle Rawls, Edgar Merriweather, and Tiffany Merriweather; fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives, church members, and friends.
