SERVICES TUESDAY FOR CHANCEY LEACH, 64. Chancey Leach passed away at his home early Monday morning following a long illness, which only for the last few days had confined him to his bed. He was born October 31, 1883, in Bloomfield Township, Isabella County, and had lived in Kalkaska County since he was sixteen. In 1906, he married Sylvia Riley. An employee of the State Highway Maintenance Department for the past eleven years, he was on leave of absence at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 at Berg Funeral Home, Rev. A. R. Ellis officiated, assisted by Rev. L. G. Blood. Fred Schreur, Ben Stimer, Merritt Strange, John Klumpp, Alvah Montgomery and Noah McLain, fellow employees were all pall bearers. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery. Surviving besides the wife are three daughters, Mrs. Bertine Buckingham, Mrs. Irene Bentley and Mrs. Beatrice Hendrickson, all of Battle Creek; two sons, Ray of Kalkaska and Carl of Detroit; two brothers, Frank of Morley and Bert of Marion, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Dow of Toledo, Ohio, also 14 grandchildren. Mr. Leach had been a patient sufferer for many years. In spite of his poor health, he was always in good spirits, and always had a witty answer, for which he will long be remembered.
