Summit County Beacon, Wednesday, 1 December 1841, 3:3:

DIED - At his residence in Copley, of hereditary pulmonary consumption, on the morning of the 26th inst., Mr. ALLEN BOZWORTH, aged 58 years.

Mr. Bozworth was one of the first settlers of Copley, and spent the first night he spent in the township, near the center with nothing but leaves for his pillow, and the vault of heaven for his covering.

His career has been marked with deeds of charity and benevolence, and it may be emphatically said of him that he visited "the widow and the fatherless in their affliction," and want never went unrelieved in his hospitable mansion. Being possessed of an enterprising and patriotic spirit, he was always ready to contribute largely for the support of any enterprise, that was likely to be conducive to the public interest, good and happiness.

The citizens of Copley have lost in him an individual whose interests were identified with their interests, and whose heart was always open to deeds of liberality and charity: his family an affectionate father and kind husband. He lived to see this once dreary wilderness converted into pleasant and well cultivated fields and gardens, and also to see two brothers, and three beloved children, cut down by that same stern and unrelenting disease, to which he so soon, alas! too soon, fallen a victim. He bore the confinement and pains subsequent upon that lingering disease, with unexampled patience and fortitude, and frequently expressed a desire that he might soon terminate his earthly career, in which he had experienced little but care, disappointment, and pain; still manifesting an entire submission to the will of God. His family will long and deeply deplore his loss, but are in a measure consoled by the reflection, that dying 'He triumphed in the cross; the antidote of death.'
