RUSH SPRINGS - Services for Donald Dwight "Slim" Kunze, 73, Rush Springs, are 10 a.m. Friday at Eastside Baptist Church, the Rev. Jerry Couch officiating. Burial follows at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasantview Cemetery, Fort Cobb. Viewing will take place at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home, Marlow. Mr. Kunze died Feb. 9, 2004, at Oklahoma City. He was born March 12, 1930, at Fort Cobb to Fred and Fannie Collier Kunze. He graduated Broxton High School in 1949 and lived in Fort Cobb for most of his life. Mr. Kunze relocated to Rush Springs in December 1976. He was a roughneck, a truck driver, and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He and Helen Florene Wilkerson were married September 1952 at Wichita Falls. She died AUg. 20, 1980. He later married Lela Roddy McConnell June 20, 1981, at Ada. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Kunze was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Lela Kunze, of the home; a son, Ronnie Kunze, Marlow; four daughters, Cathy Jackson, Marlow, Freda Kunze, Duncan, Darlene Dawson, Athens, Texas, adn Patsy Eads, Wewoka; three stepsons, Tifford McConnell, Holdenville, Todd McConnell, Tulsa, and Tracy McConnell, Moore; two stepdaughters, Leatha Caldwell, Bartlesville, and Terri Prewitt, Ada; two brothers, Warren Kunze, Cyril, and Lawrence KUnze, Athens; 29 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Kunze's grandchildren will serve as bearers. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Foundation. Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
