William was the son of Robert de Percy.
He married Agnes de Flamville, the daughter of Roger de Flamville and Iveta de Arches.
Robert de Percy likely died before his older brother, Ernald. Ernald had no children of his own, and likely was the ward of Robert's children until Ernald's death in 1170. After Ernald's death, Adam de Brus proffered 250m. on behalf of the heirs of Robert de Percy, "whom he had in his custody," for having the land of Ernald, their uncle.
