A memorial service for Lucie Marie Helton Winters, 79, of Georgetown, was held Monday, March 15, 2004, at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown, Pastor Dan Wooldridge of Crestview Baptist Church officiating. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Clifton, Dr. Jerry Smith officiating. Interment followed at Clifton Cemetery. Winters died Thursday, March 11, 2004. She was born March 29, 1924, in Clifton, to James and Lucinda Helton. On Oct. 14, 1945, she married William (Bill) Winters. The couple began their life together in Levittown, N.Y., later moving back to Texas to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael James Winters’ her parents, James David and Lucinda Helton; brothers Edgar, Elbert, Burrell, John David, and Garland Helton; and sister Velma Helton Cooper. Winters is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Winters; children George and Carolyn Winters, Albert and Donna Dagar, Pamela Crerend, Alan and Jan Alderman, Jack and Judy Moore, and Cindy Parker; sister Donna Kathryn Helton Sparks; 27 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers included Christopher Alderman, William Winters, Fred Dagar, Kenneth Crerend, Nicholas Moore, and Timothy Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Robert H. Winters, John Dagar, Raymond Dagar, Bradley Crerend, Robert W. Crerend, Marc Crerend, Trey Moore, Thomas Moore, and Michael Crerend. The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, Georgetown, was in charge of arrangements.
