A nationally known horticulturist, she was one of the founder's of the Beverly Hills Garden Club, a district director of the California Garden Clubs, Inc., and for 2 years served as President of that organization. She was also Pacific Coast regional vice president of the National Council of Garden Clubs and business manager of Golden Gardens, a garden club publication. The UCLA Hannah Center Japanese Garden at 10619 Bellagio Road, Bel Air, an authentic Japanese tea garden designed by some of the most renowned Japanese landscape architects, was built by her son, Gordon Guiberson at a cost of $1.5 million dollars in 1959 in her memory. Edward W. Carter, owner of the property after her death and founder of Broadway Department stores was the donor. The property as of 5/2015 is under litigation between the Carter heirs and UCLA who wants to sell the property because of high maintenance costs.
