John Philip Goltz was born March 27, 1913, in Waukon, Iowa to parents William and Wilhelmena "Minnie" (Braatz) Goltz.

He died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 1990 at Prairie du Chien, WI Memorial Hospital.

He was baptized and confirmed March 14, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. He received his education in Marquette grade and high school and Upper Iowa University. He played semi-pro baseball for many years.

He was director of Iowa Dairy Boosters for 9 years; a member of the Monona Fire Department, Monona Kiwanis Club and St. Paul Lutheran Church.

On April 30, 1936, he was married to Angeline Scheffert. They had 3 children. Angeline died Nov. 13, 1960.

On Sept. 7, 1968, he married Eunice Morehead Carr at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona.

He was employed by Union Farmers Coop from 1937 to 1950. He managed the business during his employment.

In 1950, he became a salesman for the eastern half of Iowa for Anderson Chemical Co. out of Litchford, MN. He worked for this company 30 years, retiring in 1980.

Preceding him in death was his first wife, Angeline Goltz; one son, Terry, who died Oct. 5, 1984; 5 brothers, William, Louis, Edward, Herbert, Lawrence and Charles and 4 sisters, Violet Schott, Leona Helmer, Anna Royston and Mary Tapper.

Surviving are his wife, Eunice; one son, Steve of Monona; one daughter, Joann Konarske of Racine, WI; one step-son, John Carr of Glendora, CA; 2 step-daughters, Cathy Bell of St. Paul, MN and Mary Totel of Decatur, IL; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren and one sister, Winnifred Lawton of Madison, WI.

Services were Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. Pastor Harold O. Ward officiated. Burial was in Monona Cemetery, Monona, IA.

Honorary Pallbearers were Everett "Pete" Drahn, Kermit Klinge, Ed Kruse and Gordon Schultz. Pallbearers were Adrian Huniker, Robert Smith, Donald Wirkler, Burdette Wold, Carlyle Kirkeberg and Marion Olson. Schultz's Funeral home in Monona was in charge of services.
