BACH, Nelson age 91 of Preble County, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. He was born February 24, 1920 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, the son of Junius Back and Carrie (Elam) Back. Nelson lived nearly 90 years in Preble County, having graduated from West Elkton local schools. He was a World War II Army veteran, recipient of a Purple Heart and served in the 7th Armored Division. Nelson was retired from Armco/AK Steel after 38 years, retiring as General Forman of the Maintenance Shops. Always community minded, Nelson served as West Elkton Scout Master, Ohio Zone Chairman Lions Club, lay leader at Greenbush United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school for 25 years, served on the Preble Shawnee School Board, and chairman of the West Elkton Veteran's Memorial Committee. He loved traveling, fishing, making maple syrup and sorghum and authored four books. He was awarded patents in the woodworking equipment industry.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Norma Mae (Hogan) Bach; two daughters, Ronda (Roy) Buehner of Preble County, Karen (Gary) Morton of Miamisburg; two sons, Junius "Sonny" (Sally) Bach of Middletown, Richard (Nancy) Bach of Preble County; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; five sisters, Gladys, Evelyn, Phyllis, Barbara, Mildred; and two brothers, Carl and Orman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burgess and Elmer; and one sister, Blanche.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Pastor Sandra Apgar officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Thursday and 1-2:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio.
