Elmer G. Back, 76, of Camden, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Heartland of Eaton. Born Jan. 4, 1929, in Preble County, he was the son of Junius and Carrie (Elam) Back. He was a self-employed well driller. Mr. Back was a member of Camden Masonic Lodge #159 and the Camden Odd Fellows.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jeannette (Slusher) Back, whom he married July 7, 1948, in Maysville, Ky.; four children, Sharon Miller of LaFollette, Tenn., Diana (Robert) Craig of Union, Ohio, Steve Back of Camden, and Michael (Debbie) Back of Dayton. Also surviving are three brothers, E. Nelson (Norma) Bach of Somerville, Carl F. (Lucille) Back of Findlay, and Orman L. (Faye) Bach of Eaton; six sisters, Blanche B. Young of Lebanon, Gladys M. Moore of Middletown, Edith Evelyn (Mahlon "Butch") Louis of Springboro, Phyllis M. (Rodney) Clippinger of Eaton, Barbara J. (Henry Winton) McIntosh of Trenton, and Mildred C. (Larry) Willet of Naples, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Back; and a brother, Burgess S. Back.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Camden United Methodist Church, with Fred Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton.
