Lena was the second wife of Wilhelm Heinrich Ludwig (Louis) Heidenreich. Together they had five children and she raised children from Louis' previous marriage to Elizabeth Keck.Magdalana Helen "Lena" Mueller was born in 1871 to John Mueller (b. 1840 in Bavaria) and Magdalena Maria Beichert (also spelled Beikert) (b. 1834 in Prussia). Lena had 8 brothers and sisters: Elisabeth (b. 1858), Nicklaus (b. 1861), Frank (b. 1866), Henry (b. 1868), Maria (b. 1870), Theodor (b. 1874), Anton (b. 1876), and Theresia (b. 1879).

On January 8, 1902, Lena married the widowed farmer Heinrich Ludwig ("Louis") Heidenreich, who already had 7 children by his first wife (Elizabeth Keck (b. 1866, d. 1900). Louis and Lena had 5 children: Arthur Conrad (b. 1902), Theresa (b. 1904), Syvilla (b. 1906), Frederick Herman (b. 1907) and Adolph Gottlieb (b. 1912).

Louis and Lena farmed in Stookey Township, near Millstadt, St. Clair County, IL.

According to her granddaughters, Helen, Mirah and Shirley, Grandma Lena had one leg shorter than the other, and she wore a built-up shoe to compensate.
