Judge Robert Lamberton ( 20 March1809- 7 AUG. 1885 Was brought up on a farm in Eglington.County Londonderry Ireland he emigrated to twh US. at the age of 21. Stayed with his Uncle in Plum township Venago county PA. with whom he worked as a stonecutter on the Erie canal,he later became a clerk in a dry goods store. he opened his own store became quite sucessful & expanded to a large Dept. store with a full line , was also involved in the establishment of a mill, & a nail factory. He opened the first bank in the county Lamberton National bank of Franklin PA. He was an associate Judge for the courts of Venango County. He died at the age of 77, the funeral was the largest gathering in the county history at that time.
